Setting
Houston Valley Recreation Area sits at 1,800 feet elevation along the edge of a hardwood forest off Tennessee Scenic Highway 107. The site offers eight individual picnic sites, two group picnic areas, an open grass field, and a covered pavilion with three picnic tables and adjacent grills. Facilities include a green-space restroom and trash cans. Nearby outdoor features include hiking and equestrian paths, the Burnette Gap Trailhead, Bubbling Springs Rifle Range, and the renovated Meadow Creek Fire Tower. Brush Creek Road leads to Weaver Bend, Allen Branch Pond, and the French Broad River.
Getting there: From Greeneville, TN take TN 70 south about 10 miles. Turn right onto TN 107 west, travel nine miles. Houston Valley is located on the left. From Newport, TN, travel on US25/70 south, turn left onto TN 107 east and travel five miles to Houston Valley. It will be located on the right.
