Setting
Iron Creek Horse Camp offers nine sites with corrals in Hell Canyon Ranger District, 13 miles east of Custer, South Dakota. Each site includes a corral, picnic table, and fire grill. Water supplies two horse troughs; potable water is available mid-May through September. Two toilet facilities serve the camp. Designed for stock users, the location provides access to the Black Elk Wilderness Area. Open mid-May through late September. Managed by Black Hills National Forest.
Getting there: To access the Iron Creek Horse Camp from Custer, travel east on US Highway 16A for approximately 9 miles. Turn left, or north, onto State Highway 87 and travel approximately 6 miles to FSR 345. Turn right, or north, onto FSR 345. Turn left into the campground.
