Cassidy Bridge Primitive Camp sits in a wooded area on the banks of the Chauga River in the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills. Located in the Andrew Pickens Ranger District of Sumter National Forest, the camp offers RV parking and a pit toilet. It functions as a free open site during local big-game and turkey hunting seasons and converts to a reservable group facility the rest of the year. Visitors use the location for riverfront camping, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, and fishing, with the Chattooga River and commercial whitewater rafting options a short drive away.
Getting there: From Walhalla, SC, drive 5 miles north on Highway 28. Turn left on Whetstone Road, and follow it for three quarters of a mile to Cassidy Bridge Road. Turn left on Cassidy Bridge Road, and follow it for 5 miles to the campground.
