Setting
L.L. 'Stub' Stewart State Park spans 1,654 acres of forested terrain rising from 730 to 1,250 feet elevation on former timberland in Columbia County. The park offers 78 camping sites including full-hookup RV and primitive areas, 15 cabins, a visitor center, and a horse camp with corrals. Roughly 15 miles of trails wind through canyons and forests, with many designated for mountain bikes. Two disc golf courses and connections to the Banks-Vernonia State Trail make it a prime destination for outdoor recreation in the Portland metro area. Minimal light pollution makes it excellent for stargazing.
