A scenic alpine lake park in the Wallowa Mountains of northeast Oregon near Joseph, at 4,372 feet elevation. The ribbon-shaped lake spans 3.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, formed by glacial moraines and reaching 299 feet deep. The park offers tent and RV campsites with full hookups, plus yurts, cabins, and tepees. Water recreation includes swimming and boating with a lake ramp. Hiking trails access wilderness terrain and the Wallowa Lake Tramway carries visitors 8,261 feet up Mount Howard. Horseback riding, canoeing, and miniature golf are available. The area is rich with wildlife and history, including the legacy of Chief Joseph and the Wallowa band of Nez Perce.
