Setting
Whispering Falls Campground sits at 2,000 feet elevation along the North Santiam River in the Willamette National Forest, shadowed by mature Douglas firs and giant cedars. The layout features 15 campsites—nine of which can be reserved in advance—with most offering views of the river. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and grill, with drinking water spigots and vault toilets located nearby. River access provides on-site trout fishing, while local trailheads lead into the surrounding Mt. Jefferson wilderness.
Getting there: From Detroit, Oregon follow Highway 22 southeast for 8.3 miles to Whispering Falls Campground on the right.
