Set in the North Santiam Canyon at 1,565 feet elevation, this 9-mile reservoir on the North Santiam River offers 32 miles of shoreline with camping, boating, and year-round fishing. Created in 1953 by Detroit Dam, the lake hosts rainbow trout, kokanee, chinook salmon, and self-sustaining brown bullhead catfish populations. Facilities include Mongold Day-Use Area for swimming, a marina, and boat ramps; water levels fluctuate seasonally from full capacity to summer drawdown.
