Campground details
Setting
House Rock Campground is set in an old-growth forest at the confluence of Sheep Creek and the South Santiam River. The site features 17 campsites across an upper and lower loop with packed dirt and rock spurs, accessible vault toilets, and hand-pump drinking water. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. An adjacent day-use area offers four picnic tables, two grills, access to shallow river swimming areas, and the trailhead for the 0.8-mile House Rock Loop Trail, which connects to the historic Santiam Wagon Road and nearby Tombstone Pass trails.
Getting there: From Sweet Home, follow Highway 20 east for 26 miles to Forest Road 2044 and turn right. Follow Forest Road 2044 for a half mile and turn right, then drive for another quarter mile. House Rock Campground is across the Sheep Creek bridge.
