Indian Ridge Lookout sits at 5,405 feet in the Willamette National Forest atop an open ridge of beargrass, huckleberries, and wildflowers. Built in 1958, the 30-foot tower features a 16x16-foot rustic cabin with two twin beds, a table, and chairs, but no electricity, heat, or water. An outhouse, picnic table, and fire ring sit outside. From the site, visitors overlook the Three Sisters peaks, the Cascade Crest, and nearby Hidden Lake. Hikers can follow an unmaintained mountaintop trail or explore the nearby French Pete Trail Area in the Three Sisters Wilderness and Cougar Reservoir.
Road difficulty 4 of 5 -- a difficult drive in. Recorded as maintained only for high-clearance vehicles, gravel, pitching to 18%, 100% of it on a shelf. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Secluded here -- the nearest through road is 3.3 miles off, a single-site campground. A pond lies 0.3 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. The nearest town, Oakridge, is 21 mi off.
