Alder Dune Campground is situated in a coastal Douglas fir forest between Alder Lake and Dune Lake in the Siuslaw National Forest. The property offers 39 campsites screened by native shrubbery, alongside paved roads, pit toilets, drinking water, and a day-use area near Dune Lake. Both lakes are stocked with rainbow trout for fishing. A trail system loops around Alder Lake and across sand dunes to connect with the Sutton Trail, leading directly to a Pacific Coast beach.
All 0.5 miles in are maintained for passenger cars. Paved the whole way in (0.5 miles).
Crowded here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 39-site campground. A pond lies 0.1 mi off. Most of them shaded. The Slide stands 978 ft above the site, 1.6 miles north. Night skies measure Bortle 3 -- a dark rural sky. The nearest town, Heceta Beach, is 3.2 mi off.
