Perched on the edge of Winter Rim nearly 3,000 feet above Summer Lake, this rebuilt cabin features a large two-sided deck overlooking the valley. Inside, the cabin contains a set of twin bunk beds, a queen bed, a LP cooktop, refrigerator, LP lamps, and a wood-burning stove with firewood provided. An outdoor vault toilet sits adjacent to the building. Guests must bring their own drinking water, bedding, and supplies. Nearby routes include the Fremont National Recreation Trail and the Oregon Timber Trail.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Overhead clearance here is posted at 14 ft -- the tightest site sets the limit.

Cabins and shelters rather than pads. The nearest town, Lakeview, is 53 mi off.

September normals 3468°F, 0.6″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
