Rebuilt in 2024, Bolan Mountain Lookout is a historic 14-by-14-foot one-room cabin perched above sheer cliffs with views of the Siskiyou Mountains, Red Buttes, and Kalmiopsis Wilderness. The elevated lookout sleeps up to four people and is accessed by 30 to 40 steep steps. It comes furnished with a table, two chairs, a single bed with a fold-out pad, cleaning supplies, and a fire extinguisher. A vault toilet sits nearby. There is no water or electricity on site. A trail leads down to 12-acre Bolan Lake for trout fishing and non-motorized boating, and Oregon Caves National Monument is nearby.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
