Campground details
Setting
Monty Campground is a rustic 12-site, first-come, first-served facility on the lower Metolius River just above Lake Billy Chinook. Best suited for tents and small vans due to narrow, rough access roads, the campground provides vault toilets, picnic tables, and campfire rings with grills. Campers must bring their own drinking water, as no hookups or potable water exist on site. Visitors come to fish the river, explore nearby canyon hikes like the Tam-a-lau Trail, or access water sports and boating at nearby Lake Billy Chinook.
Getting there: From Sisters, OR: Travel 5.6 miles northwest on Highway 20, then 20.8 miles north on Forest Road 11, then 5.0 miles east on Forest Road 1170, and then 7.2 miles northwest on County Road 64.
