Green Ridge Lookout is a 20-foot tall historic fire tower perched on a ridge high above the Metolius River in Deschutes National Forest. Surrounding Douglas-fir, cedar, and ponderosa pine forests frame views of Mount Jefferson. The one-room elevated cab features a futon, table, two chairs, propane wall heater, propane lights, and a kitchen area with a four-burner stove, oven, and propane refrigerator. Outside, a two-story catwalk connects to a wooden deck. The site has no water supply, and guests must pack in all food, water, bedding, and supplies.

Road difficulty 4 of 5 -- a difficult drive in. Recorded as maintained only for high-clearance vehicles, dirt, pitching to 0%, 100% of it on a shelf. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Private here -- the nearest through road is 0.7 miles off, a single-site campground. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. Metolius River runs 0.9 mi off. Mount Jefferson stands 5,789 ft above the site, 13 miles northwest. The nearest town, Sisters, is 17 mi off.

September normals 4470°F, 1.0″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
