Setting
Gorge Campground sits in a coniferous forest along the upper Metolius River near 3,076-foot Black Butte. The site accommodates RVs, trailers, and tents with picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and vault toilets, but offers no water or electric hookups. Visitors come for fly-fishing for trout and salmon in the cold, spring-fed river, as well as hiking nearby trails. Regional highlights include the Camp Sherman Fish Viewing Platform, Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery, the 100-mile Metolius-Windigo Trail, and Newberry National Volcanic Monument.
Getting there: From Sisters, OR: Travel 9.6 miles northwest on Highway 20, then 6.1 miles north on Forest Road 14, then two miles north on Forest Road 1419.
