Setting
Jackson Campground sits along the Applegate River north of the Red Buttes Wilderness. The facility offers eight tent-only campsites, two dry RV sites, and one group site directly on the riverbanks; tight turnarounds make camp trailers unadvisable. Site facilities include drinking water and restrooms with flush toilets, but no showers or hookups are available. Local recreation includes swimming, canoeing, and hiking nearby river trails, including the trail leading to the historic 1974 Bigfoot trap. Applegate Lake sits a short drive away with boat ramps and equipment rentals.
Getting there: Highway 238 to Upper Applegate Road. Campground is close to mile marker 9.
- Limited separation from through roads or other sites here, a 12-site campground with the nearest through road 0.1 miles off.
- Baldy Peak stands 2,972 ft above the map pin, 2.7 miles southeast.
- Applegate River runs 0.1 mi off.
- Mostly tent-only sites, with 12 on the water and most of them shaded.
