Setting
Scaredman Campground sits at an elevation of 1,390 feet along Canton Creek in a heavily wooded forest. This small, minimally developed site features 10 campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, alongside riverside picnic areas and a vault restroom. Drinking water spigots are on site, though water is currently unavailable. Canton Creek and nearby Steamboat Creek are closed to angling, but several undeveloped swimming holes sit along both waterways. The North Umpqua River is located three miles downstream, offering fly-fishing, whitewater rafting, and scenic byway access.
Getting there: From Roseburg, travel east on Highway 138 for 40 miles. Turn left/north onto Steamboat Creek Road and then after a half mile, turn left/north onto Canton Creek Road. Scaredman is three miles from the Steamboat Creek/Canton Creek junction. Elevation: 1390’
