Campground details
Setting
Located along the Wild and Scenic North Umpqua River in the high Cascades, this campground and trailhead features 15 campsites under partial forest shade. The layout includes ten equestrian sites with 12x12-foot horse corrals, manure bins, wheelbarrows, and shovels, alongside five standard non-electric campsites. All sites have picnic tables and fire rings with grills. Facilities include vault toilets, but no drinking water is provided. The site serves as a base camp for the Porcupine Connect Trail, which links directly to the North Umpqua Trail and Mount Thielsen Wilderness.
Getting there: From Roseburg, OR, travel east on OR-138 /NE Diamond Lake Boulevard for about 74 miles. Turn left onto Forest Road 60 (Windigo Pass Road). Follow for 4.5 miles, and then turn right onto Forest Road 6000-958 (red road). Drive 1.5 miles to the end of the road to Kelsay Valley Horse Camp and Trailhead.
