Redmond-Bend Juniper protects fragile high-desert ecosystems scattered across ten parcels along U.S. Route 97 in Central Oregon between Bend and Redmond. The landscape features extensive old-growth western juniper woodlands, with many trees several hundred years old, adapted to porous pumice soils and sparse 15-inch annual rainfall. The scenic corridor is completely undeveloped with no camping facilities or trail infrastructure—designated for hiking and nature viewing only. The Pilot Butte Canal runs through portions, supporting wildlife including pronghorn, mule deer, sage grouse, and golden eagles. Nearby developed parks include Tumalo and Smith Rock State Parks.
