Setting
Little Crater Campground occupies a narrow ledge along the edge of 1,531-acre Paulina Lake, inside the Newberry Volcano caldera. Its 49 sites fit tents, trailers, or RVs, all positioned a short walk from the water. On-site facilities include vault toilets, drinking water, picnic areas, shoreline hiking trails, and a boat launch. The lake supports rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon, which spawn in Paulina Creek. Nearby attractions within the national volcanic monument include the Lava River Cave lava tube and the Lava Lands Visitor Center in Bend.
Getting there: From Bend, travel 23.5 miles south on Hwy 97, then 14.5 miles east on County Road 21( Paulina Lake Road), and 0.5 miles north on Forest Road 2100 570. From LaPine travel 6.8 miles north on Hwy 97, then 14.5 miles east on County Road 21( Paulina Lake Road), and 0.5 miles north on Forest Road 2100 570.
