Setting

Some privacy

Ochoco Forest Camp sits near Lookout Mountain in an old-growth Ponderosa pine forest. The site features a large group picnic pavilion for up to 125 people equipped with tables, grills, electricity, drinking water, and vault toilets, alongside a meadow with a group fire ring. First-come, first-served individual campsites are also available on site. While horses are not permitted at the campground, the nearby Lookout Mountain Trail caters to hikers and mountain bikers, and nearby Walton Lake provides trout fishing.

Getting there: From Prineville, Oregon, take Highway 26 north for 16 miles. Turn right on Ochoco Ranger Station Road and go 9 miles to the Ranger Station, then turn left onto Forest Service Road 2610, proceed across the small bridge and take a right into the Forest Camp fee station. Continue on to the pavilion group site, follow signs.
