Setting
Dam Site Campground is situated on the west bank of the Grand River below Fort Gibson Dam in northeastern Oklahoma, nestled among rolling oak-hickory hills. This seasonal facility offers 23 primitive campsites without water or electric hookups, along with group day-use shelters at the main park and the Overlook. Outdoor enthusiasts visit for primitive camping, bird watching, and access to the nearly 20,000-acre lake for boating, swimming, and fishing for black bass, crappie, and catfish. Historic Fort Gibson, a 19th-century military post, is located nearby.
Getting there: Updated with Fort Gibson Dam closure.From Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, turn onto US-62 W. Turn right onto OK-16 E/Okay Rd/N York St and continue to follow OK-16 E. Continue onto OK-251A E. The park will be on your right at the bottom of the hill just before the dam.
