Washington Irving South Campground sits along the Arkansas arm of Keystone Lake, shaded by bottomland hardwoods and oak timber. The park holds historical note as the location where writer Washington Irving crossed the Arkansas River in 1832. Sites include 20 reservable, well-shaded drive-in spots with 30-amp electric hookups, seasonal water, picnic tables, and fire rings. On-site facilities feature a restroom and shower building, drinking water, a dump station, a boat ramp, a dock, a playground, a swimming beach, and a 1-mile nature trail. Off-road vehicle areas are located within a 15-minute drive.
Getting there: From Tulsa, Oklahoma, take Highway 412 west for 15 miles to Bears Glen exit. Turn left at stop sign onto the Frontage Road and drive 1 block. Turn right at first paved road and follow 2 miles to the campground entrance.
