Setting
Veterans Lake Pavilion is a day-use group picnic site located in the Platt Historic District of Chickasaw National Recreation Area, five to seven minutes from Sulphur. The 40-person area sits near the edge of Veterans Lake and includes picnic tables, a grill, easy boat launch access, and nearby public fishing docks. There are no electrical hookups. The paved Veteran's Trail loops around the lake for walking and biking. Nearby attractions include mineral springs, the Bison Pasture, and the Travertine Nature Center, set where eastern forest and mixed-grass prairie ecosystems meet.
Getting there: From I-35, take Exit 55 or 51 and drive towards the city of Davis, OK. Once in Davis, go east towards Sulphur on Highway 7. Watch for the Chickasaw National Recreation Area signs. For Veterans Lake Pavilion, drive approximately 8 miles (13 km) east on Highway 7 from Davis and turn south (right) on 12th Street in Sulphur. The road ends at a stop sign shortly after entering the park. Turn right at the stop sign and follow the signs to Veterans Lake Pavilion.
