Setting

Fairly secluded

Buckhorn Pavilion is a day-use rental site located on the shore of Lake of the Arbuckles, ten minutes from Sulphur in Chickasaw National Recreation Area. The grounds feature a large grassy area for lawn games, open picnic tables, charcoal grills, and direct access to a nearby boat launch. There is no electricity at the site, and overnight camping is not permitted. The surrounding 2,300-acre lake has 36 miles of shoreline popular for swimming and fishing for bass, catfish, crappie, and perch. Scenic hiking trails and native wildlife displays are ten minutes away at the Platt Historic District.

Getting there: From I-35, take Exit 55 or 51 and drive towards the city of Davis, OK. Once in Davis, go east on Highway 7 and watch for Chickasaw National Recreation Area signs to direct you to your selected area. For the Buckhorn campgrounds, boat ramp, pavilion, and picnic areas, drive approximately 9 miles east on Highway 7 in Davis to the only 4 way stop (Jct Hwy 7 and Hwy 177) in the city of Sulphur.
