Setting
Johnson Creek Campground sits on the eastern shore of Lake Texoma among the oak-forested rolling hills of southern Oklahoma. The loop contains 54 paved campsites with water and electric hookups, flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station. A boat ramp and dock provide lake entry for boating and striped bass fishing, while a marina operates within a mile. Campers can access the 14-mile Cross Timbers hiking trail, which winds along rocky ledges above the water.
Getting there: From Durant, OK, travel 11 miles west on Highway 70. Exit off Highway 70 to the north and the park entrance is 300 yards ahead. Physical address: 215 Johnson Creek Road, Mead, OK 73449.
