Deer Creek Lake Day Use Area sits just below the dam at Deer Creek Lake, set in a hardwood forest of oak, hickory, walnut, and sycamore. The site features two accessible group picnic shelters that hold up to 100 guests each, located 40 yards from a creek popular for fishing. The surrounding 35-mile area southwest of Columbus offers boat ramps and docks scattered around the lake for powerboating, swimming, and fishing for species like bluegill, crappie, catfish, and bass.
Getting there: From Columbus, Ohio, take Highway 62 south to Mt. Sterling. Turn south on Route 207 and continue for 8 miles to the lake. Turn at the intersection; picnic shelter is on Crownover Mill Road.
