Oak Hill Campground sits on the western shore of 143-acre Lake Vesuvius within Wayne National Forest, surrounded by a mixed hardwood-pine forest of mature oak trees. The upgraded facility provides single-family campsites for up to eight people alongside a 50-person group site. Individual sites feature picnic tables, lantern posts, fire rings with grills, electric hookups, and water hookups, with accessible flush and vault toilets, showers, and a dump station on site. A campground spur connects to over 40 miles of local trails, including paths leading to Rock House Cave.

Road difficulty 1 of 5 -- an easy drive in. Recorded as fully maintained, paved, pitching to 8%, 100% of it on a shelf. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Crowded here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 32-site campground. The Lake Vesuvius shoreline is 0.3 mi off. Night skies measure Bortle 4 -- a rural sky with a glow on the horizon. Most sites here have an electric hookup -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Ironton, is 6.5 mi off.

September normals 5680°F, 3.4″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
