Wheeler Peak Campground sits at nearly 10,000 feet in Great Basin National Park, nestled among Engelmann spruce, shimmering aspens, and alpine meadows beneath Wheeler Peak. The paved sites include picnic tables, campfire rings, grills, and vault toilets. Vehicle length is restricted to 24 feet combined. On-site trails include the Sky Island Nature Trail, with the Bristlecone Trail and Alpine Lakes Loop Trail starting right at the entrance. Lehman Caves is a 30-minute drive down the scenic mountain road.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Overhead clearance here is posted at 10 ft -- the tightest site sets the limit.

Doso Doyabi stands 2,855 ft above the site, 1.6 miles south. Crowded here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 36-site campground. Most of them shaded. The Brown Lake shoreline is 0.5 mi off. The nearest town, Ely, is 35 mi off.
