Setting
Timber Creek Campground rests at 8,500 feet in the Schell Creek Range within Duck Creek Basin, 25 miles from Ely. Dense spruce, fir, and aspen border Timber Creek, which flows past five group campsites designed for 25 to 100 people. Some sites require footbridge access across the creek. Facilities include picnic tables, fire rings, grills, vault toilets, and drinking water, but no trash service. Nearby draws include trout fishing in the creek, the Success Loop Scenic Drive, the Ranger OHV Trail, and the adjacent High Schells Wilderness.
Getting there: From McGill, travel north on Highway 93 for 5 miles. Turn on State Route 486 and continue 8 miles on the paved road. Turn left on Forest Road 425, at the Timber Creek sign, and drive up the dirt road another 3 miles to the campground.
