Angel Lake Campground sits at 8,350 feet in the East Humboldt Mountains, 12 miles southwest of Wells, Nevada, offering single and double campsites. The facility provides vault toilets but no potable water. Adjacent to Angel Lake, the campground offers fishing for rainbow, brook, and tiger trout, non-motorized boating, and hiking access via Smith Lake Trail and Winchell Lake Trail. Open Memorial Day to Labor Day ($18 single, $36 double per night).

Getting there: Take Interstate 80 to the West Wells exit. Turn south on Angel Lake Road (State Route 231) and travel 12 miles to the end of the road at Angel Lake.
