Angel Creek Campground sits at 6,500 feet, 8 miles southwest of Wells, Nevada. The site offers campsites with vault toilets and potable water. Mature aspen trees provide partial shade. Activities include fishing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and access to nearby Angel Lake for canoeing. Open Memorial Day to Labor Day ($17 single, $34 double per night).

Getting there: Take Interstate 80 to the West Wells exit. Turn south on Angel Lake Road (State Route 231) and travel 8 miles to Angel Creek. Turn left and follow the road for one mile to the campground.

  • Flat ground is scarce: under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
