Setting
Cathedral Rock is a day-use group picnic area near the top of Kyle Canyon in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. Set in a forest of ponderosa pine, white fir, aspen, and oak, the facility features two large group sites built with cement pads, large picnic tables, serving tables, and outdoor grills. Amenities include paved parking areas, vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection. While direct trail access from the picnic loops is currently restricted, main Forest Service trailheads and the Spring Mountain Visitor Center are a short drive away in the canyon.
Getting there: From Las Vegas, Nevada, take Highway 95 north to junction with Highway 157/Kyle Canyon. Turn left and travel approximately 21 miles to the picnic area at the end of the highway.
