Setting
Sitting at 7,900 feet in elevation between Questa and Red River, New Mexico, Columbine Campground is organized into two distinct loops. An open entrance loop provides views of the surrounding mountains, while a longer upper loop runs along fast-flowing Columbine Creek under a shaded canopy of pine, spruce, and aspen. The campground offers 26 single sites equipped with tent pads, picnic tables, and fire rings. On-site facilities include vault toilets and potable water spigots for filling containers. The Columbine Twining Trailhead sits at the south end, leading into 14 miles of wilderness trails.
Getting there: Five miles east of Questa, New Mexico via NM highway 38.
