Paliza Campground sits on a hill beneath sandstone cliffs in Santa Fe National Forest, five miles northeast of Ponderosa. The site features paved roads, tent and RV sites, picnic tables, lantern posts, campfire rings with grills, and accessible vault toilets; drinking water is not provided. A small stream runs alongside the grounds, which contain 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps remnants such as log lean-tos and rock fireplaces. Off-road, hiking, and mountain biking trails surround the site, with the Cerro Pelado Scenic Overlook located 11 miles away.
