Campground details
Setting
Hopewell Lake Campground sits at 9,500 feet elevation in the conifer and aspen forests of Carson National Forest, adjacent to a 14-acre man-made lake. The facility features 31 campsites, a reservable group day-use shelter, a group overnight site, vault toilets, and select sites outfitted with horse corrals and water troughs. There is currently no potable water on site, so campers must pack in their own supply. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail passes directly through the campground, and the stocked lake supports canoeing and fishing for rainbow and brook trout.
Getting there: From Taos, New Mexico, take U.S. 64 about 40 miles west. The campground is on the south side of the road.
- Little separation from through roads or other sites here, a 32-site campground with the nearest through road 0.1 miles off.
- The Hopewell Lake shoreline is 0.1 mi off.
- Most of them shaded.
