U.S. Forest Service allows overnight stays only at the designated sites here.

Aspen Group Area sits near 9,000 feet in the Sacramento Mountains within Lincoln National Forest. Surrounded by pine, fir, and aspen trees, the facility is available exclusively as a single group site accommodating 4 to 70 people. Water is accessible at nearby Sleepy Grass Campground during the summer season. Hiking trails surround the site, including the 2.5-mile Osha Trail loop and routes to overlooks at Alamo Peak and Stark Peak. The 32-mile Rim Trail is located a quarter-mile away, and Oliver Lee Memorial State Park sits at the base of the mountains.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Private here -- the nearest through road is 1.6 miles off, a single-site campground. A group campground -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, High Rolls, is 6.7 mi off.

September normals 4569°F, 2.9″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
