Campground details
Setting
RV and tent campground 4 miles west of Carrizozo on US Highway 380. Thirteen RV sites with water and 30/50-amp electrical hookups ($25/night); primitive RV and tent camping also available ($15/night). Facilities include central shower house with flush toilets, water spigots scattered throughout, and RV dump station ($30 fee). Two accessible campsites. Recreation includes Malpais Nature Trail (3/4-mile paved through lava flows) and Kipika Trail (over 1 mile). Visitor center with bookstore and Junior Ranger Program.
Getting there: Travel four miles west of the town of Carrizozo on U.S. Highway 380. Valley of Fires recreation area is on the left.
