Located off New Mexico State Highway 152 in the Black Range Mountains between San Lorenzo and Hillsboro, Iron Creek Campground provides a convenient roadside stopping point for mountain travelers.
All 0.4 miles in are maintained for passenger-car comfort. Gravel the whole way in (0.4 miles). Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Cross-O Mountain stands 2,408 ft above the site, 2.2 miles northeast. Iron Creek runs 0.9 mi off. The nearest town, Bayard, is 22 mi off.
