Coal Mine Campground sits at 7,400 feet on a pine, juniper, and oak hill in Cibola National Forest, 12 miles northeast of Grants. The facility offers over a dozen sites for tents or RVs with paved parking spurs, picnic tables, and campfire rings with grills. Accessible vault toilets are on site. Utility hookups and drinking water are not available. The Lobo Canyon Trail starts in the campground, connecting to local hiking networks. El Malpais National Monument, the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, and Mount Taylor are located nearby.
