7.5 of the 18 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Mostly gravel, with 7.5 miles of dirt. Level ground alongside most of its length. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch. Water crossings 2.3, 2.5, 7.7, 14 and 17 miles in. A cattle guard 15.1 miles in.
Elk Mountains stands 2,197 ft above the site, 3.9 miles southeast. Shantie Spring lies 0.5 mi off. The nearest town, Little Walnut Village, is 56 mi off.
