Setting
Waterville Campground sits in a hardwood forest alongside the Mad River, serving as a launch point for the southern White Mountains and the Pemigewasset Wilderness. The facility features a single loop containing well-spaced standard and tent-only sites, equipped with basic restrooms and drinking water. The 4.4-mile Drakes Brook Trail and 3.9-mile Sandwich Trail connect directly near the loop to form a full circuit, while the adjacent Mad River provides on-site brook trout fishing. Whitewater paddling on the Winnipesaukee River is located nearby.
Getting there: From Highway 93, take exit 28. Follow Highway 49 east for 10 miles, then turn left on Tripoli Road. The campground is 0.25 miles on the left.
