Setting
Campton Campground is a large forest facility in the southern White Mountain National Forest, situated near the 30-acre Campton Pond and the Mad River. The grounds offer well-spaced sites shaded by white pines and hardwoods, supported by drinking water, restrooms, and coin-operated hot showers. The non-motorized pond and adjacent river provide opportunities for brook trout, pickerel, and perch fishing. On-site nature programs run on weekend evenings in mid-summer, while regional hiking trails and interstate highways are easily accessible.
Getting there: From Highway 93 in central New Hampshire, take exit 28 and follow Highway 49 (Mad River Road) east for 2 miles.
