Green Island offers free, primitive Leave No Trace tent camping accessible strictly by boat on the Missouri River. The island features five designated campsites marked with brown signs, each equipped with a metal fire ring. Two isolated sites sit on the eastern shore, while three adjacent sites are on the western side. Campers must pack in all supplies, pack out waste, keep fires within designated rings, and log their itinerary by phone before visiting.
Getting there: Near River Mile 806 is the 60-acre Green Island Recreation Area. Only accessible by watercraft.
