Setting
Located on the eastern shore of Lake Oahe along the Missouri River, Hazelton Recreation Area features a mix of 18 primitive campsites and 12 sites with 50-amp electrical hookups. Set within a terrain of mixed-grass prairie and scattered shoreline trees, the facility is equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, and a playground. Boating and fishing are central draws, supported by an on-site boat ramp, a large paved parking lot, adjacent picnic tables, and a fish cleaning station. Public hunting lands surround the nearby lake waters.
Getting there: From Bismarck, ND, take University Drive south (road becomes Highway 1804). Continue 25 miles south. Recreation area will be on the right side of the road.
