Cottonwood Campground sits among namesake trees along the Little Missouri River in the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Open year-round, it accommodates tents, trailers, and RVs with individual sites and a group site, featuring picnic tables, flush toilets, and a seasonal drinking water station, but no hookups. Bison frequently walk through the grounds, and hikers can easily access roughly 70 miles of park trails, with the historic Peaceful Valley Ranch nearby.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Overhead clearance here is posted at 13 ft -- the tightest site sets the limit. Sits on broad, near-level ground.
Crowded here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 72-site campground. Little Missouri River runs 0.2 mi off. 6 hike-in sites. The nearest town, Dickinson, is 35 mi off.
