Setting
East Ashtabula Crossing Campground sits on a 12-acre wooded hillside along Lake Ashtabula, a reservoir created by the Baldhill Dam on the Sheyenne River. Located in North Dakota's prairie pothole region, the area attracts migratory waterfowl like white pelicans, alongside deer and wild turkey. The campground has 38 sites (32 with electric hookups), flush toilets, drinking water, a beach, a shelter, and a playground. A boat ramp, fishing pier, dump station, and hiking trails are within walking distance, with access to the North Country National Scenic Trail nearby.
Getting there: The main route to the park is via Interstate 94 to Valley City exit 292. Follow the signs through Valley City and follow County Road 21 north for 15 miles.
