Setting
Set along the forested shores of the 1,475-acre W. Kerr Scott Reservoir, this campground sits in the Yadkin River Valley surrounded by mixed hardwoods. The facility features 32 campsites equipped with electric hookups, plus one large group site for up to 100 people. On-site amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, hot showers, a sandy swimming beach, a playground, a basketball court, and a horseshoe pit. Multi-use trails line the lake for hiking and mountain biking, connecting directly to the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail.
Getting there: From Winston-Salem, North Carolina, take Highway 421 North (approximately 61 miles) and turn left onto S. Recreation Road. Continue for approximately 1.5 miles. Campground entrance is located at the end of the road. From Charlotte, North Carolina, take I-77 North (approximately 60 miles) before merging onto Highway 421 North towards Wilkesboro/Boone, continue to S. Recreation Road (approximately 28 miles), turn left onto S. Recreation Road and go approximately 1.5 miles. Campground entrance is located at the end of the road.
