Wolf Ford Horse Camp is an equestrian-focused campground in the Pisgah Ranger District, located 3.2 miles down gravel Forest Service Road 1206 near the South Fork of the Mills River. Set under a heavy canopy of maples, oaks, and pines, this remote site offers pit toilets but no water or electricity. A combination code is required to enter. The camp provides direct access to over 100 miles of multi-use trails and forest roads, with the Cradle of Forestry four miles away and the Blue Ridge Parkway nearby.
Getting there: From the North: At the intersection of 280/64 West, turn onto 276 North. -Go 11.7 miles. Turn Right onto Yellow Gap Road (Forest Service Road 1206) - an unpaved, gravel road. -Go 3.3 miles. Turn Right onto South Mills River Road (Forest Service Road 475) - an unpaved, gravel road. Wolf Ford Horse Camp will be immediately on your left. From the South: Turn onto 276 South. -Go 18 miles. Turn Left onto Yellow Gap Road (Forest Service Road 1206) - an unpaved, gravel road. -Go 3.3 miles. Turn Right onto South Mills River Road (Forest Service Road 475) - an unpaved, gravel road. Wolf Ford Horse Camp will be immediately on your left.
