Campground details
Setting
Located at 2,000 feet at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Curtis Creek Campground sits along a cold mountain trout stream in a rich hardwood forest. The facility spans 25 campsites across three distinct loops: an accessible loop for RVs up to 35 feet, a grassy tent-only loop, and a series of secluded, roadside tent sites. Each site provides a table, tent pad, lantern post, and fire ring, supported by vault toilets, hand pumps for drinking water, and bear-proof trash receptacles. On-site trailheads lead to mountain waterfalls and old-growth backcountry areas.
Getting there: From I-40, take Exit 73 towards Old Fort. Take Catawba Ave. north 0.5 miles to US-70E/E Main St. Turn right on US-70E and go 1.8 miles to Curtis Creek Rd. (Curtis Creek Campground sign). Turn left on Curtis Creek Rd. and drive 4 miles to campground.
